Resolutions

"Ideas are like stars, they fall from the sky, they run round your head, they litter your sleep as they beckon, they'd teach you to fly, without wires or thread, they'd promise if only you'd let them"

-Mary Chapin Carpenter / "Ideas Are Like Stars"

Something ends, and something new begins. As 2014 draws to a close, I look back on a year of massive change.

I remember reading my horoscope at the end of 2013, and that was indeed the prediction: 2014 was to bring turmoil and great metamorphosis. Little did I know what was headed my way.

I lost loved ones, had to move, and forged ahead with a new script that shot in September of this year. There were extreme emotions at every turn: high highs and low lows.

I stand here looking back with clouded vision. It’s a haze. 2014 feels more like the snapshot of a car speeding by, photographed at a long shutter speed; all that’s visible is a blur of streaking color. Something tells me time is going to keep moving faster with every step I take.

What lies ahead? I hope a horizon line that bears health and a strong heart to endure all of life’s shifting and changing. There is great agony and despair in the world.

Sometimes it feels like the impossible dream is to keep striving for something good when everything is always crashing down.

This morning I woke up with a yearning to start working. That’s one of the greatest feelings in the world. The magnetic pull of ideas brewing makes me feel alive. It’s the promise of something better if I keep going and creating along the way. Ideas are very much like stars.

2015 is still unmade; it’s a frontier of undiscovered country. Time doesn’t give the option to travel in reverse. There is only forward and the constant reminder of limited time.

There is something to be thankful for—A Gift of Miracles. The movie premieres in early 2015. It’s the result of lots of labor, care, and attention. I hope you all enjoy it, and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity. (More details to come.)

Until then, may the coming year bring miracles of your own. Brave the unknown and make the most of every breath; what lies ahead will be forever different than what you have today.
